Sticking somewhat with the Halloween theme, I attended New
York Comic-Con the first weekend of October. One of the panels I sat in on was
titled, “Comics Creators Consuming Coffee: Where Food & Comics Collide”
where panelists chatted about how culinary arts and which foods inspire their
craft.
Not surprisingly, much discussion was had about pizza,
sushi, and of course to no one’s surprise, coffee (hence, the word being
featured in the panel’s title)!
The panel was sponsored by Death Wish Coffee, which boasts
itself as the world’s strongest coffee. Their packaging warns that their coffee
is “intense and may result in sleepless nights.”
As soon as attendees entered the panel, a free sample was
provided in a small, tasting cup. The coffee definitely smelled great. Nothing
quite equals the smell of strong, fresh-brewed coffee. Unfortunately, no cream
or sugar was available so you had to drink the coffee straight black. So it was
basically a “shot” of coffee.
Not sure if it was the “strongest” coffee I ever tasted, but
since the panel was held at 4:15 p.m. (and after a day full of events at the
Con), it did provide the jolt of energy I needed to get through the rest of the
afternoon and evening.
What was really nice, was that as you left the panel, you
were able to take a free Death Wish Coffee sample bag!
Swag!!!
